GOT QUESTIONS?
WE'VE GOT YOUR EDGE!
Clean and oil your shears daily.
1. Wipe blades with alcohol and a soft cloth.
2. Apply a drop of shear oil near the pivot point.
3. Open & close the shears 5-10 times to distribute oil evenly.
Have your shears sharpened every 3 to 6 months.
Heavy use (5+ cuts/day): Sharpen every 3–4 months.
Moderate use: Sharpen every 6 months.
Occasional/personal use: Sharpen once a year.
Thick or coarse hair: Sharpen every 2–3 months.
How to tell if shears need sharpening.
Increased effort: You have to push or fold the hair to cut it.
Uneven cuts: The cut is not clean and precise.
Dropping them: A drop can cause a nick that requires immediate attention.
Wet tissue test: Sharp shears will cut wet tissue cleanly. If they tear it, they need sharpening.
Fix: Loosen the tension screw slightly and add a drop of oil.
Fix: Adjust the tension screw
How?
Hold your shears open at a 45° angle.
Let go of the handle. If the blade closes completely, the tension is too loose.
Tighten the tension screw slightly (right = tighter, left = looser).
Test again. Shears should close about ⅔ of the way.
